Description

'This context report explores the consequences, impacts and causes of Climate Change, which are now said to be irreversible.
It seeks to investigate current action taken to reduce the 30% overuse of the world's resources through the development of alternative choices, particularly within the textile industry. n doing so I will explore what exactly is the problem with an increase in CO2 and the psychological and social barriers that prevent global action to stop it.
I will explore how current designers are taking action against the issue, both practically and speculatively, looking at how they approach raising awareness in different ways.
In 'Speculation and Awareness' I will explore the prototypes, visualisations, artefacts and technology as both cause and remedy of risky, dystopian futures.
This will be combined with a review of research documents that explore the future of Climate Change, including methods taken by government bodies and the impact of the restricted exposure in the media.

I will explore the responsibility the textiles industry is taking (if any) for being the third most polluting trade, Specifically through the leather industry, by looking at how it functions, how the processes and regulations differ by countries and the impact of cheap labour and resources.',
